工作坊內容：
This two part workshop focuses on dramatic approaches to support young children’s literacy and narrative competence. These approaches include process drama and dramatic play, with picture books and stories being re-imagined to create the stimulus for this work.
In the first part of the workshop Julie will lead participants through a process drama experience suitable for children from four years of age. Strategies and approaches will be modelled and explained. Links to play, written literacy and narrative competence will be made across this session.
In part two, participants will work with Julie to plan a similar experience based on another re-imagined story, learning how to select an appropriate text, identify a focus and sequence some of the strategies to create a cohesive and aesthetic experience for young children.
In both sessions an emphasis will be placed on the importance of tapping into children’s imagination and growing their creativity by balancing adult structured activities and child-structured play.

Dr Julie Dunn is an Associate Professor in Drama Education and Applied Theatre at Griffith University, Australia where her teaching includes courses in Arts in Early Childhood. Her main areas of focus in both teaching and research are dramatic approaches that are playful and improvised, such as process drama and children’s play. Julie is widely published in the field of early childhood, with chapters and journal articles exploring how adult-structured drama and literacy learning activities can be blended with child-structured play. She is the co-author of the award winning book Pretending to Learn (with John O’Toole). This text has been translated into Danish and Chinese.
