 Community Art Practice Workshop -- Recruit Participant Organizations!




To learn from dialogue, To Explore Selves, and  To Establish a Personal Identity


To Work with Community, To Build Team Spirit, and To Strengthen Community Cohesion

To Practice Cultural Diversity with Art, and To Achieve an Inclusive Society!

 

TEFO will arrange teaching artists to hold 5-session art workshops in the community center of the participant organizations, with the pedagogy of Transformance.[1] The teaching artists willc collect stories from the community groups from, and facilitate them to create their own collective art work / exhibition / performance, as a part of "Cultural display/performance". (The content of the art work will be related to cultural background or life experience of the community groups, and to achieve the theme of "Embrace Cultural Diversity!".

The participant organization and the community groups are required to organize their own "Cultural Display/Performance".


[Note 1] Transformance means transformation and performance. It is a pedagogy developed by community theater master Dan Baron Cohen for more than 25 years of practice and experience.

Instructor: Local Teaching Artists with experience of Transformance
Target Organizations:
Non-profit social welfare organizations
Class size: 10 - 20 persons (per group)
Fee: $500 (per group)

Participant Organizations to organize "Cultural Display/Performance" in their own centre
19-21 Dec 2009 Participating organizations will perform their work in the "Conference on Drama Education in Chinese Communities 2009)

Jan to Jul 2010

Participants may be invited to join the cultural performance for the 7th world conference of International Drama/Theatre and Education Association (IDEA 2010) in Brazil. (Details will be announced soon.)

 

 

The Roles of TEFO and Participating Organizations

Organizers TEFO will provide Participating Organizations shall be responsible for
  • A total of 5 sessions of the "community art practice workshop"
  • Liaison with Teaching Artists
  • The direction and advice for the workshops and cultural display/performance
  • The appropriate venues for workshops and rehearsal
  • Recruitment of and Liaison with the participants
  • The assistance in the workshop
  • Simple documentation of the activities
  • The assistance of participants in preparation of cultural display/performance
  • The production cost of "Cultural Display/Performance" (including props, costumes, scenery etc.)
  • Transportatation


 

  Enrollment

Please complete the Registration Form, together with the bank-in slip (TEFO bank account HBSC 813-212-719-001), or crossed cheque (made payable to "Hong Kong Drama/Theatre and Education Forum Limited "), and post to Rm 95-11, 11/F, Yau Fung Building, 93-95 Lai Chi Kok Road, Prince Edward, Kowloon, Hong Kong.

Application Notice

  1. An inform email will be sent to the applicants upon receipt of the enrollment form and workshop fee. Please contact TEFO if you have no reply after 10 days.
  2. Preference will be given to organization of marginal groups. TEFO will announce the list of participant organization by 20 Sep 2009.
  3. Organizer will reserve the right to any final decision.
