Introduction of Heritage Theatre

Heritage Theatre is the combination of "Museum Theatre" and "Theatre-in-Education".

 

Arteducators use the essence of historical heritage and its related environment to design different projects for teaching, with the help of drama, visual arts and digital creativity to revitalise the stories of heritage. Constructionist Learning is its key that students can participate and contribute actively during the process which encourage their self-learning skills.

 

"Heritage Theatre in Sai Kung –  Community Culture Inheritance Education Programme" is aimed to provide an interesting learning experience for local students to know more about the culture, history and nature of Sai Kung; also to meet the needs of schools after the implementation of the new 334 academic structure.

 

The programme contains 5 themes:



1. The Dongjiang Guerilla and the War of Resistance against Japan during WWII


2. The transformation of Sai Kung villages


3. The story of water supply


4. The ecology of Sai Kung

 

5. Sheung Yiu and Hakkas

 

 

Also, the programme instructor will assist the teachers to organise students to share their experiences and dramas with other schoolmates after the camp.

 

Information for Participant Schools


1. The programme is a 2 day 1 night educational camp in Bradbury Camp, which the first day is planned for a field trip in the heritage or the nature in Sai Kung District according to the selected theme by the school. Students will have to prepare their own lunch.

Then, the afternoon of the first day and the whole second day will be the activity day conducted in our campsite - Bradbury Camp.

2. The fee of student and teacher participant is HK$134 each, which includes 2 day 1 night accommodation in Bradbury Camp; Dinner of the first day; Breakfast and Lunch of the second day; A/C charge. However, transportation is not included.

3. For the number of participants, the maximum would be 128 people, while 104 people is best for the programme; the minimun would not be less than 50 people.

4. To facilitate the school participation, the period of the programme is between the first semester of academic year 2010-11 and the second semester of academic year 2011-12, on every Friday and Saturday (2 day 1 night).
